A small town group with big city talent, the 60 Grit Band has been transcending generes and expectations throughout Southern California since 2011. Breaking the boundaries of traditional blues, the band draws a heavy infulence from classic and modern rock, rhythm and blues, old time soul, and reggae.
Singer and rhythm guitarist David Ferguson has a dynamic range and entertaining presence on the stage. Frank Orecchio, on lead guitar, plays with spirit and a swagger matched by no other. On bass, Brian Haringa plays from his soul and is the backbone of the band. A true showman on harmonica, Jeremiah Kiser plays imaginative leads and subtle rhythms. And Nick Coffey plays the drums with relentless energy and unwavering timing. Together, they play with passion and an element of "grit" that truly sets them apart from other blues/rock acts, and because they leave their hearts on the stage every show, you will never regret attending one.
The 60 Grit Band's debut, self-titled album is an eclectic and energetic blend of genres and styles. Though it's rooted in the blues, the album has a fresh and soulful sound that is appreciated by audiences of all ages, and one that you can just let play from front to back. The album is available on iTunes and all the major online music retailers, and also on their website (for non-Apple/iTunes users)!
The 60 Grit Band joins us the first Wednesday of each month during our Bands Burgers & Brews.
“..."Lonely Whiskey Blues” – Sometimes, lovers who are fed up with playing second fiddle to a usurper named Al Cohol issue their partners an ultimatum. The narrator of this ditty has just received one: “My woman took my bottle. She tried to make me choose. For me there was no question man, I had to cut her loose. I stay home; I get drunk; I sing the Lonely Whiskey Blues.” Everything about this song is at its optimal strength, going down smooth, like a double Jack Daniel’s on the rocks. This is especially the case with Jeremiah Kiser’s burning harmonica...”

"This band is made up of five professionals playing a fresh sound with old school rhythm and blues and genuine soul. David Ferguson is the powerful lead vocalist, and plays the rhythm guitar well. Frank Orecchio plays a great lead guitar with smooth skills, swagger and a developed sense of spirit, ready for the big time. Brian Haringa playing a hard rhythm bass guitar, was blazing away. Nick Coffey on drums played stellar rhythm with great management and percussion performances, and finally there’s Jeremiah Kiser with his irreplaceable harmonica. This was a very cool experience to hear and watch. It was fun to see a local band doing well enough to open for Aaron Neville, The Edgar Winter Group, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I wish them all the breaks in the world, and do good by your music making the world a more positive and better place to live. Their sound was great, and I hope to catch this group again as soon as I can." (On 60 Grit Band's performance at the 2016 Doheny Blues Festival)
